BMW & MINI Servicing and Repairs in Llantrisant

Nine things we do, and what each of them actually involves on a car built the way yours is. If you already know what the car needs, call or WhatsApp us and skip the reading.

    Factory-Level Servicing

Full and interim servicing to BMW and MINI schedules, using oils and parts that meet the manufacturer's own approvals. Your digital service record is updated with BMW and MINI directly.

BMW and MINI service intervals are condition based rather than fixed mileage. The car calculates when oil, filters, brake fluid and plugs are actually due from how it has been driven, and it specifies an oil by manufacturer approval, not by viscosity that looks close enough. A flat annual service does not map onto any of that, which is how a car arrives with a full book and is still overdue on the items that matter.

    Advanced Diagnostics

Genuine BMW ISTA, the system a BMW dealer uses, rather than a generic code reader. We find the fault, explain it in plain terms, and quote before any work starts.

A modern BMW runs dozens of control units talking to each other across several bus networks, and a code logged in one is often a symptom of something in another. A generic reader pulls the first code it can see and stops there, which is how the wrong sensor goes in and the light returns a week later. ISTA reads the whole car in the order the fault propagated, and the same system handles coding, programming and key enabling, so a replacement control unit can be coded to your car here instead of at a dealer. Autel and Topdon equipment covers everything that is not a BMW or MINI.

    Timing Belts & Chains

Belt and chain replacement on BMW and MINI, on the German marques, and on wet belt engines including the Ford EcoBoost petrols and EcoBlue diesels, vans included.

A wet belt runs inside the engine, lubricated by the oil, and as it ages it sheds material that collects in the oil pickup and starves the pump. It affects the Volkswagen Group 1.5 TSI from around 2017, which covers Golf, Tiguan, T-Roc, Passat, Octavia, Superb, Leon, Ateca and A3 among others, and the earlier 1.0, 1.2 and 1.4 engines in the same family do not use one, so the first job is establishing which engine is actually in the car. The Ford 1.0 EcoBoost is the harder version of this work and takes most of a day to reach the belt, reseal the covers and set the timing properly. Chains are a different problem. A rattle for the first few seconds after a cold start is the warning on the N47 diesel, and on that engine the chain sits at the back, between the engine and the gearbox, so one or the other has to come out to reach it. That is a significant job and we do it. The alternative is not a cheaper repair, it is a new engine, because when a chain lets go on an interference engine the valves and pistons meet.

    All Vehicle Brands Welcome

Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda, SEAT and Mercedes are routine work here, and we will look at anything else.

Specialising in BMW and MINI is about depth rather than restriction. The diagnostic equipment, the method and the standard are the same across the bay, so a household running a 3 Series and a Golf does not need two garages or two sets of records.

    M Power

M servicing to M intervals, pre-track inspection, exhaust cam alignment for a noisy valve train, crank hub upgrades, and performance work that accounts for what is already on the car.

An M car is not a standard model with a badge. The engine, cooling system, brakes, dampers and driveline are different components on their own intervals, and the electronics around them are calibrated to expect exactly those parts. Fitting the standard equivalent because it physically fits is where the expensive problems start, and it is usually discovered later by someone else.

    EV Servicing & Diagnostics

Both of us hold the IMI Level 4 electric and hybrid qualification, covering removal and repair of the drive battery and every high-voltage component around it. Drive battery and charging diagnostics alongside routine servicing.

An electric BMW or MINI still has brakes, fluids, filters and suspension, and regenerative braking means the discs do less work and corrode more, so they need looking at more often rather than less. What it adds is a drive battery, an inverter, an on-board charger and the cabling between them, and that is the part a general garage cannot safely approach. It is the reason most EV owners end up back at a main dealer for work that has nothing to do with the battery.

    General Repairs

Brakes, suspension, clutches, cooling and everything between, diagnosed before anything is replaced.

Cooling systems on modern BMW and MINI engines use plastic housings and composite impellers that fail on a fairly predictable schedule, and the first sign is often a slow loss rather than a warning light. The same discipline applies across the car: we establish what caused the failure before fitting the part, because replacing a component without understanding why it failed usually means replacing it again.

    Digital Service History Updates

Every service is recorded with BMW and MINI directly, so the car's history stays where the manufacturer keeps it.

A digital service record is held by BMW rather than stamped into a book in the glovebox, which means a missing entry cannot be reconstructed afterwards by producing a receipt. It matters at two points: while the car is under any manufacturer or extended warranty, and at resale, when a buyer or a dealer checks the record rather than the paperwork.

    Performance Upgrades

Software and hardware work, specified around what the rest of the car can take.

More power asks more of the clutch, the cooling system, the brakes and the driveline, and an upgrade that outruns those turns a fast car into an unreliable one. We will tell you what the car will take and what it will need alongside it. If the car does not need the work, we will say so.
